The 40 year old apartment, located in the historic centre of Thessaloniki, was in a poor state, with compartmentalized spaces and obsolete facilities. The radical remodeling began by demolishing interior walls in order to create a more open layout and make the most of the apartment’s 92 sq. meters. The reorganized space consists of an open-plan living area, two bedrooms, a bathroom, a laundry room and a guest room. The aim was to create a warm and light-filled atmosphere, achieved primarily through the combination of wooden herringbone flooring with white walls.

This neutral canvas is enriched by the extended use of natural materials (wood, metal, terracotta) and plants. The open-plan living area consists of a kitchen, a dining and living space and an office, all oriented towards the natural light and the view to Thermaikos Gulf and Mount Olympus. Vintage furniture coexist with contemporary design pieces and custom-made items, such as the plate self and the kitchen counter, a folding surface that underlines the kitchen. The raw wood texture contrasts with the glossy metal surface of the kitchen cabinets and appliances.
